A wonderful programme that our family farm is a part of, all voluntary, it’s a joint effort by private landowners to do their part in protecting our native flora and fauna –
Welcome to Land for Wildlife South East Queensland, a vibrant, progressive program that aims to protect native wildlife and flora for the benefit of future generations.
Land for Wildlife brings together like-minded landholders to share skills and knowledge about nature conservation. To date over 50,000 hectares of habitat for wildlife has been protected with a further 3700 hectares under restoration, just in South East Queensland.
The program encourages landholders to integrate nature conservation with other land management activities such as grazing and hobby farming. Land for Wildlife offers advice on how to protect and manage flora and fauna on your property. This is done through one-on-one property visits, workshops, field days, regular newsletters and other activities.
Land for Wildlife is voluntary and free to join.
Land for Wildlife is an Australia-wide program that was developed in Victoria in 1981 and this year celebrates its 30th anniversary!
In South East Queensland, Land for Wildlife is delivered by SEQ Catchments in partnership with Local Governments and as of April 2011, there are over 3400 members.
